Global industry leaders join the Board of Directors

Controlant welcomes Søren Skou (as of 1 January 2024) and Steve Van Kuiken to the Board of Directors.

New Board Directors at Controlant

Søren Skou and Steve Van Kuiken have been elected to the Board of Directors of Controlant at the 2023 Annual General Meeting held on 16 June 2023, with Skou commencing his term as Board Director as of 1 January 2024. Skou and Van Kuiken bring extensive global industry experience to the Board, from the shipping and logistics industry, and the healthcare and technology industry respectively, strengthening the company’s leadership ahead of the next growth phase.  

Søren Skou 

Søren Skou is a globally recognized leader in shipping and logistics. Skou joins from A. P. Møller Maersk where he served as CEO from 2016 to 2022. During his tenure as CEO, Maersk transformed from a diversified conglomerate into a globally integrated USD 60Bn+ logistics company. He led Maersk through a business, digital, and culture transformation as well as positioning the company as a leader in decarbonization in the global shipping and logistics industry. Skou joined Maersk in 1983 and held various leadership roles within the company before becoming its CEO.  

Skou is the Vice Chairman of telecommunications equipment maker Nokia OY and Chairman of The Mærsk Mc-Kinney Møller Center for Zero Carbon Shipping. He holds an MBA with honors from IMD in Lausanne, Switzerland, and a graduate diploma in marketing from Copenhagen Business School.

Søren Skou joins as a Director on the Board of Controlant on 1 January 2024. 

Steve Van Kuiken 

Steve Van Kuiken brings a wealth of knowledge and insights from his tenure as a Senior Partner at McKinsey & Company. Over his long career at McKinsey, he founded and led the firm’s Healthcare Technology Practice. Leading the practice, he worked closely with CEOs and senior executives at the largest pharma companies globally on different aspects of digital transformations. Later Van Kuiken founded and built their technology transformation practice, McKinsey Technology, a fast-growing $2Bn global business. He also led McKinsey Digital for North America, and McKinsey’s alliance with Amazon Web Services. 

Van Kuiken has been a long-time leader in the life sciences practice, serving large, global pharmaceutical and medical product organizations. Prior to McKinsey, Steve was Vice President of IT at Baxter Healthcare and Senior Manager at Andersen Consulting. He has a B.A. in Economics and History from Hope College in Michigan in the United States.  

Steve Van Kuiken:

Steve Van Kuiken joins as Director of the Board of Controlant on 16 June 2023.  

The Board of Directors  

As of the 2023 Annual General Meeting, the Board of Directors is comprised of Ásthildur Otharsdóttir, Chairman, Jørgen Rugholm, Kristín Friðgeirsdóttir, Steve Van Kuiken, and Trausti Þórmundsson. 

Søren Skou and Jørgen Rugholm will share the term, with Rugholm on the Board until 1 January 2024 at which time he will step down and Skou will join the Board.
