Controlant hires four new VPs

To meet the ever-growing demand for our solutions from new and existing customers in the pharmaceutical, food and transportation industries, high-tech company Controlant continues to expand and strengthen its team.

Controlant is a leader in the development and application of real-time monitoring solutions for the supply chain. Its solutions support the safer, more reliable, more traceable, and more sustainable transport of pharmaceutical and food products. With rapid growth in recent years, the company has steadily recruited employees across all divisions, both in Iceland and abroad.

In recent months, Controlant has introduced four new Vice Presidents: Ragnhildur Agustsdottir, Jens Bjarnason, Saeunn Bjork Thorkelsdottir and Aslaug S. Hafsteinsdottir.

Áslaug S. Hafsteinsdóttir, VP of Implementation at Controlant

Aslaug Hafsteinsdottir, Vice President Implementation 

Aslaug will build and lead a new division in charge of the implementation of Controlant solutions for customers. Prior to joining Controlant, Aslaug worked for Meniga for ten years, implementing software at international financial institutions. Most recently, she worked as the Director of Professional Services and previously led Meniga's project management. Aslaug also spent almost seven years working for Landsbankinn, including as Head of Risk Analysis. She holds an MBA and a B.Sc. in Engineering from Reykjavik University.

As the new Chief Engineer at Controlant, Jens leads a group of experts who play a key role in the development of the company's product and solution range. Jens comes with a lot of experience and worked at Marel for 26 years, beginning his career as a software development programmer. He later became Head of Software Development, then Software Sales Manager and eventually Head of Innova, Marel's software platform. Jens holds an MBA and a B.Sc. in Computer Science and Industrial Management from Reykjavik University.

Ragnhildur Agustsdottir, Vice President Marketing

Ragnhildur leads Controlant's marketing department. She is an experienced executive and entrepreneur who co-founded the Lava Show which opened in 2018 and won Iceland’s Tourism Innovation Award in 2021. For the past six years, Ragnhildur worked as Territory Channel Manager for Modern Work and Security at Microsoft in Denmark and Iceland, after serving as Director of Hosting and Operations and Digital Delivery at Advania. Prior to that she worked as a management consultant and manager in telecommunications. Ragnhildur has a Master's in Strategy, Operations, and Leadership from Copenhagen Business School and a B.Sc. in Business Administration from Reykjavik University.

Saeunn Thorkelsdottir, Vice President Procurement

Saeunn Thorkelsdottir, Vice President Procurement

Saeunn became Purchasing Manager at Controlant early in 2021, which led to her current role heading up a new procurement division for the company. Prior to joining Controlant, Saeunn spent four years as Head of Purchasing Management and Cost Control at Eimskip, where her other responsibilities included leading the development of a new international unit, managing the company's import department in Hamburg, and serving as process manager in Iceland. Saeunn taught transportation and logistics at the Reykjavik University School of Business for several years and is Chair of the Purchasing and Product Management Group, Stjornvisir. Saeunn holds a Master's in International Management from Strathclyde University in Glasgow and a B.Sc. in Business Administration from the University of Iceland.

A bright future for Controlant
Controlant has played a key role in the safe distribution and monitoring of Pfizer and BioNTech COVID-19 vaccines worldwide, including a close collaboration with the US government on vaccine distribution. This massive project, that played a fundamental role in Pfizer winning the Gartner 2022 Supply Chain Award for COVID-19 vaccination distribution, has attracted further attention to Controlant's solutions, and growth is expected to continue in the coming months and years.
