Controlant Hires Saeunn Bjork Thorkelsdottir as the New Director of Procurement

Saeunn Thorkelsdottir has joined Controlant as Director of Procurement and is responsible for leading and managing a new unit for purchasing and supply chain management as the company increases its international activities.

June 3, 2021 –Reykjavik, Iceland and San Francisco, California — To support operational scaling initiatives and meet the demand of its growing Pharma & Life Sciences customer portfolio, Controlant, the leader in real-time supply chain monitoring and visibility technologies, is making strategic talent acquisitions across many business units to both expand and deepen its international teams and technologies.

As a part of the expansion, Saeunn Thorkelsdottir has joined Controlant as Director of Procurement and is responsible for leading and managing a new unit for purchasing and supply chain management as the company increases its international activities.

Saeunn previously worked as the Director of Purchasing at Eimskip from 2016-2020, where she led the development of a new global unit. In addition, she previously held various other positions of responsibility within the company, including managing the import department in Hamburg, and was a Process Manager in Iceland. For many years, she taught Logistics and Supply Chain Management classes at Reykjavík University’s business school.

Saeunn is also the Chairman of the Logistics and Purchasing group of Stjórnvísi as well as serving on many other boards. She holds a B.Sc. degree in Business Administration from the University of Iceland and a Master’s degree in International Management from Strathclyde University in Glasgow.

Controlant recently announced its vital role in COVID-19 vaccine distribution globally and within the US. In addition, it plans to make additional talent acquisitions in critical business units such as Product, Marketing, Revenue, R&D, Business Intelligence, Data Science, and additional operations roles throughout 2021.
